Babbarra Women’s Centre I Hand-printed scarves

Babbarra Women’s Centre is an art centre and women’s space producing unique textiles to support the economic independence of Indigenous women in the community of Maningrida, Arnhem Land, NT.
Last week ABT had a visit from the art centre manager who brought in six limited edition hand-printed scarves.
The textiles featured draw from a range of lino print designs created over the past 40 years, translated into a striking library of woodblock prints through collaboration with Tharangini Studio in Bangalore, India!
At the heart of the collection is intergenerational mentoring, where grandmothers and mothers pass on skills and culture, ensuring the legacy of past generations continues through the artists’ work.
ABT is marketing them as scarves and sarongs, but we know scarves have many other practical uses, and the sarongs can also serve as table coverings for special occasions.

I’m not sure which is my favourite, they’re all very special and can be viewed in ABTs online store: https://aboriginalbushtraders.com/search?q=babbarra+scarf
