“Delivering shared services that support Indigenous community members to commercialise and trade authentic products and services based on Aboriginal culture, art and experiences.”
Established by Ironbark Aboriginal Corporation in 2015, Aboriginal Bush Traders works to deliver shared services that support Indigenous community members to commercialise and trade authentic products and services, based on Aboriginal culture, art and experiences. Our business is wholly not for profit and money generated is returned to community through Ironbark programs.
Aboriginal Bush Traders is located in the beautiful Lyon’s Cottage Darwin and boasts a small Bush Tucker Café and function capabilities. The picturesque Esplanade location and charming historical setting will entice you to explore and discover a treasure trove of unique products and gifts.
Aboriginal Bush Traders provides avenues for Indigenous people wanting to engage in economic activities in a sustainable way. We specialise in sourcing unique, authentic and ethically sourced products and services from across the Northern Territory. Our store retails everything from canvas, carving, prints, homewares, weavings, clothing, baby wear, skin care, books and native food products.
Aboriginal Bush Traders is a blend of both Indigenous and European history. Built in 1925, Lyon’s Cottage was Darwin's first stone residence and formerly housed the British Australian Telegraph Company. Lyon’s Cottage is one of the few historical buildings to survive the WWII bombing of Darwin and Cyclone Tracey. Currently the cottage houses a unique holographic display which brings to life the story of early Darwin.
So next time you’re in town head down, have a coffee and say hello to our friendly staff!
