This year, to mark NAIDOC Week and Territory Day, Aboriginal Bush Traders (ABT) highlights and celebrates the Northern Territory's rich Indigenous culture with a suite of public programs to nurture the body, mind and spirit, focussing on bush foods, beauty and art.

Wind down the busy day with us on the lawns for our NAIDOC Week ABT Sundowner, a chilled evening of music/food, workshops, dancing, face painting and other activities suitable for the whole family.
The 1st of July is Territory day, a celebration of our unique identity and place, and the diverse people who share it. This year marks 40 years of self-governance, an important milestone in our history and a chance to reflect on how far we have come and the future we want to create. MORE >

RARRK WORKSHOP WITH CLINTON GAYKAMANGU
Clinton Gaykamangu is a Darwin-based painter from Milingimbi, Central Arnhem Land, specialising in rarrk (cross-hatching). Clinton paints Dhuwa ancestral stories such as Wagilak Sisters Story, Djalumpu (Hollow Log Dreaming) and Honey Story.
Join Clinton for a painting workshop. Learn traditional techniques for intricate cross-hatching and create your own unique design.

Bring your little ones down to Aboriginal Bush Traders for Storytime. Enjoy readings from our collection of children’s books by Indigenous authors and try your hand at fun art and craft activities.

WATTLESEED ROLL DEMONSTRATION AND TASTING WITH KAREN SHELDON CATERING
Join the Karen Sheldon Catering team for a hands-on demonstration of the nutritious and tasty wattleseed roll. Learn about native ingredients and how to incorporate them into your cooking, and while your buns are in the oven, enjoy a tasting of mini-rolls served with bush jams. YUM!

ABT SUNDOWNER
Come celebrate NAIDOC Week at Aboriginal Bush Traders with a fabulously chilled afternoon of activities, and entertainment for the whole family. Enjoy dancing and live music, sample bush foods and try a mocktail with native ingredients or a non-alcoholic craft beer. There will be face painting for kids and adults alike and chilled vibes with a DJ as the day turns into night.

TASTES AND TALES - CAMPFIRE AND CONNECTION
Leslie Gordon and Emma Lupin join together around the campfire to share tales and tastes of our wonderful edible native plants (and animals). Their connection to country and love of the Darwin bush comes from two very different journeys and perspectives that merge together to inspire others to see the value in these through food.

CONTEMPORARY WEAVING WITH SYLVIA NULPINDITJ
Sylvia Nulpinditj is a Darwin-based painter and a weaver from Milingimbi, Central Arnhem Land. Harvesting Pandanus Spiralis and natural bush dyes from around the Darwin and Palmerston regions, Sylvia creates stunning woven mats and dillybags, coiled baskets and contemporary fibre forms.
Join Sylvia for an intimate weaving workshop. Learn traditional techniques such as such as twining and knotting to create your own stunning contemporary fibre artwork.
